Over the last year and a half The Holy Spirit has been highlighting to us the blood of Jesus and it’s impact on a believer’s prayer life. Not only is His blood significant for the individual who prays, giving the worshiper access to the feet of Jesus, but we have come to see that agreeing with the truth of what Jesus’ blood accomplished for the lost and a city is impactful intercession. 

As the Lord has whispered and taught us about Jesus’ blood we have felt an invitation to be even more intentional in 2025. We are saying yes to pleading the blood of Jesus in each of our prayer sets for the extent of the year. This intentional act is a response from our team to an invitation we have felt from the Lord. We are excited to grow an even deeper understanding of what it means to pray the blood of Jesus over ourselves and Seattle. 

Well, a large part of this focus is for us to learn the answer to this question together! We can’t think of a better way to learn than simply doing it! This year will be about leaning into the simple truths we have already learned and then letting the Spirit and Scripture refine our understanding and experience! 

This is some of what we have discovered already:

For the one praying: we enter communion with God through communion, the bread and wine, body and blood. Jesus is the curtain that we enter through, the narrow way, His blood has washed us white so that we can come to the Father exactly as we are. This revelation changes everything about how we pray. 

For the one being prayed for: the gospel IS true whether or not we have submitted ourselves in faith to the salvation found in Jesus. When we intercede for the lost, we have found that standing in the gap in order to proclaim the truths of the gospel over people, are the kind of prayers the apostles prayed for in the early church. Pleading the blood isn’t about only saying the phrase “I plead the blood” it is about understanding all that the blood accomplished and declaring that truth over heart, minds and spirits that have yet to have this revelation of truth.
